Abstract

Many countries are accelerating the transition of agricultural production from conventional farming to sustainable agroecological farming. Agroecology transition not only requires farmers and consumers to be more proactive, but also needs appropriate and effectives public policies. Therefore, this study clarifies the concept of agroecology in Vietnam and describes how this concept has been incorporated into public policy. The study determines some requirements of agroecology development to ensure ecological balance, and identifies challenges and barriers of agroecology transition in order to propose overall solutions to promote agroecological transformation in Vietnam.
